Hi All.
I am hoping some one can clear this up for me.
If I clear my Eve cache file, will I loose any of my UI and such settings ?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Kitty.

Why do you need to clear your cache? I haven't done this since around 2004.

Theoretically, those settings are safe. On the other hand, boot.ini
So try it, and good luck, It's never screwed me up personally, but I'm only 4 cache clears greenhorn.

Back up your settings first if you don't want to risk loosing them (you should back them up anyway in case your computer dies or whatever). They're stored at %localappdata%\CCP\EVE\path_to_eve_client_tranquility\settings. Just back up that entire folder, and then if things go wrong just replace the broken one with the backup copy.

Should be fairly safe to clear the cache from the inside of the client, or manually via the paths to avoid borking the settings folder.

The only subfolder of the cache that needs a good wiping every now and then is machonet. Everything else in cache, I never had any problems with. _

Yup, if you clear out every subfolder you will lose all your settings, as I so recently learned so don't just wipe everything. Know what you need to clear out and leave the rest.

There are two folders in there. Cache and Settings. Guess where your settings are stored? You only need to delete the cache folder and as mentioned you only really need to wipe machonet. Occasionally clearing the whole cache folder can speed up logins and it's advisable to do so after every patch or update.
The ingame option to clear cache is not as thorough as doing it manually and knowing :CCP: they are likely to stealth change it so it formats your harddrive or something equally disastrous.

Here's my solution. I wrote a program that keeps the machonet clear.
